چکیده

purpose: to evaluate the distribution of tnf-alpha promoter -1031t/c and -308g/a polymorphisms in an iranian population with behcet disease and ocular manifestation. method: we investigated the distribution of tnf-alpha promoter -1031t/c and -308g/a polymorphisms in 53 patients with behcet disease (bd) and 79 matched healthy controls, using the pcr-rflp technique. all subjects were from an iranian azeri population. results: the frequency of the tnf-alpha -308g/a polymorphism was similar in bd patients and healthy controls (p= 0.234) whereas the frequency of the tnf-alpha-1031t/c polymorphism was different between two groups (p= 0.0006). the frequency of the cg haplotype was significantly higher (p< 0.0001), and that of the ta haplotype was significantly lower in bd patients than healthy controls. different tnf-a-1031t/c and tnf-a-308g/a polymorphisms were not associated with ocular involvement. conclusion: tnf-alpha is a susceptibility gene for bd in iranian patients of azeri ethnicity. there was no relation between different haplotypes in the investigated genetic region in this group of bd patients with ocular manifestation.

The Association between TNF-alpha Gene Polymorphisms and Endometriosis in An Iranian Population

Objective Objective: TNF-α is an important cytokine in acute inflammatory response to infective factors. It seems that this response increases in patients with endometriosis due to presence of cytokines such as TNF-α which has been investigated in patients with endometriosis in different populations. This study aimed at examining four polymorphisms; TNF-α -238G/A, -308G/A, -857C/T and -863C/A a...

Polymorphisms of Promoter Region of TNF-α Gene in Iranian Azeri Turkish Patients with Behçet’s Disease

Behçet's disease (BD) is a complex chronic relapsing inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology. Alterations of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) expression related to the polymorphic alleles of TNF gene may implicate a pathogenetic role in increased activity of this cytokine in BD. A current study aimed at investigating the possible association between BD and its clinical features in Iranian Azer...

Association of Two Polymorphisms in H2B.W Gene with Azoospermia and Severe Oligozoospermia in An Iranian Population

Background During spermatogenesis, the H2B family, member W (H2B.W) gene, encodes a testis specific histone that is co-localized with telomeric sequences and has the potential role to mediate the sperm-specific chromatin remodeling. Previously H2B.W genetic variants were reported to be involved in susceptibility to spermatogenesis impairment. In the present study, two single nucleotide polymorp...

TNF-Alpha Gene Polymorphisms in Iranian Azari Turkish Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

CONTEXT Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) are chronic inflammatory diseases of the bowel (IBD) whose causes are not fully known. Emerging data indicate that alterations in cytokine synthesis may play a role in IBD pathogenesis. AIMS We aimed to determine the association between tumor necrosis factor-alfa (TNFα) promoter polymorphisms (at positions - 308 and - 1031) and suscepti...

Molecular Analysis of MEFV Gene Polymorphisms and Mutations in Iranian Azeri Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis

Some genes have an unproven role in the pathogenesis of Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). One of these suspected genes is the Mediterranean fever (MEFV) gene. MEFV is responsible for familial Mediterranean fever (FMF). Currently, more than 100 FMF-associated mutations of the MEFV gene have been identified. With most located on exon 10, five of these: E148Q, M680I, M694V, M694I, and V726A account for m...

GATA3 Gene Polymorphisms Associated with Allergic Rhinitis in an Iranian Population

Background: The development of allergic rhinitis (AR) is caused by the interaction between genetic predisposition and environmental factors. In this study, the association between GATA3 single nucleotide polymorphisms and AR in an Iranian population was identified. Methods: This case-control study was performed on 86 patients with AR and 86 healthy subjects. This study aimed to e...
